Squeaky squeak?

1 note

A flying pig, for an awesome friend/coworker (aren’t those the best type of people?) I’ve come up with several names for him, each is cheasier than the one before it. This took a grand total of about 5 hours.

Spent my morning replacing the DC jack in my laptop. This involved dismantling it. I used to work in IT for a couple summers where I had to dismantle countless netbooks, but this was different. My laptop (which is less than a year old and was quite expensive) is my baby. I was so worried about damaging the keyboard wires or stripping a screw, but everything turned out fine thankfully.
The DC jack broke over a week ago, but the replacement part finally arrived yesterday. Now I can get back to those things that just can’t be done on my tablet. Like Neopets. And the Sims 2.

Know what is happening in Ferguson

tfsiosociety:

Know that Mike Brown was murdered without reason.
Know they left his body out, like they left out lynched Black folk to scare people
Know his community was grieving
Know they wanted solidarity and justice
Know they protested peacefully
Know they gathered
Know the police responded
Know the…

Normally I try to stay away from current events and anything political because this is a knitting blog, but these posts are really angering me. I’m from a St. Louis suburb. My dad works in Ferguson, actually on one of the streets where rioting is going on.

What happened to Michael Brown is a tragedy and is horrifying. There is no denying that. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.

But these posts are so one sided. Yes, the police have canines and tear gas and rubber bullets, that’s true. But that’s because the peaceful protests turned into riots and looting. A local Quiktrip was looted and then burned to the ground. A tire shop and Walmart, among many other places, were also looted. There were shots fired inside the Walmart, causing the employees to run for cover. It’s a miracle no one was shot during the chaos. Many other businesses were also attacked. This is no longer a peaceful protest. It’s chaos. My dad says it looks like a war zone. The police are using these measures to stop the riots.

Even Michael Brown’s family is condemning the riots. They say it’s not what Michael would have wanted. But all Tumblr cares about is the “aggressive nature of the police” with no mention of all the destruction going on.

A while back my boyfriend was lamenting the fact that Nintendo was only offering the Hyrule Warriors scarf to Japan. Approximately 50,000 hours of knitting later I came up with this for his birthday, and I’m very happy with it. The downside is that if he ever loses it or even stains it, I will immediately break up with him. I’ve never experienced anything so tedious.

Found a nice shadowbox frame at Hobby Lobby to put my knitted dissected mouse in when it’s finished. It’s so close to being finished. But since I have to work and move this weekend, it’s not going to happen anytime soon. Maybe I should have waited to buy the shadowbox until after I moved.
