What do you think about (young) knitters referring to themselves as "old ladies"?

myalterknits:

I think as a historical meaning towards the calling knitters Grannies can be traced back to World War II.

Everyone knitted during that time from young children, boy scouts, former soldiers, women, everyone. When the war was over some people put down their needles forever, or they said they would…

Thank you for the history behind this, very interesting.

I guess I am alone in that I’ve never had anyone call me granny (aside from my best friend who says it as a joke). I also have never thought of myself as being granny-like. Whenever I knit in public everyone thinks it’s so cool and I get nothing but praise and aw. I don’t think I’d mind being called a granny though, I’m pretty thick skinned and that doesn’t seem like much of an insult anyway. I’d probably just tell the person that they need to be more original.

I’m back. Sorry I’ve been missing. Life has been… all over the place. But things are pretty much settled down now, so I’ll start to get back into my daily posts. Might take a few days before they are truly daily, so bare with me.
Ted Mosby, finished a couple of days after that awful finale, which I am choosing to ignore. I love him. The umbrella’s slightly bigger than it looks in the picture, it’s just the camera angle. He’s a graduation present for my wonderful roommate, who is also a big fan of the show and is oddly in love with the finale.

Craft blog promos!

stitcherywitchery:

Do you have a craft blog that you’d like help promoting? (And by saying “craft blog,” I’m including blogs that feature things other than crafts but are run by people who enjoy crafts).

Incredibly, this blog recently reached 3290+ followers, and to thank everyone for…

Whoops (major spoiler alert for HIMYM)

I’ve been traveling a lot lately, but I’m finally done now. I had thought that I was posting pictures these past couple of days, but apparently the settings on my phone didn’t allow for me to post using 4g, so that’s why you haven’t seen anything from me lately. Whoops. I have most of a new doll done, only the arms and hair left. It’s Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother. Which, by he way, had the worst finale ever. (Spoilers!) The mother dies, Barney and Robin divorce after dedicating an entire season to their wedding, and Ted and Robin hook back up? All that character development just got flushed down the drain. I feel so let down.

Pfft. Who needs gauge.

I started on this donkey last December as part of my knitivity. When I realized it was terribly out of proportion to everything else I stopped working on it. But maybe it’s time to finish it.

I’m at 100 rows! Only 450 rows left to go! Now if you’ll excuse, I’m going to go sit in a corner and think about my life decisions.
